Best New ESG ETF Award went to ECOZ, ...

The annual ETF.com award just concluded. In the Best New ESG ETF category, the climate impact ESG ETF, ticker ECOZ, took the award among five nominees, including products from Blackrock, Vanguard and JP Morgan. This is a pleasant surprise to both the ETF issuer, a start-up TrueShares and its subadvisor Purview Investment, a 100% women owned and run firm. As the lead portfolio manager for ECOZ and the founder of Purview Investments, Dr. Linda Zhang commented: “It’s particularly humbling to win the award against industry giants. It proves that there is still room to stand out for climate and ESG specialty firms.”

She also commented on what this win means for climate ESG investing, and women portfolio managers in the industry.

Two ETF Panels at NYC QWAFAFEW Night, May 23: Purview Investments' Linda Zhang, moderated a panel on "How ETFs Bring New Life to Quantitative Investing"; Toroso's CIO Michael Venuto on TETF Index.

Panel 1: How ETFs Bring New Life to Quant Investing

The growth of ETFs is rapidly changing the landscape of the asset management industry.  For two years in a row, ETFs have brought in record net inflows, while mutual funds experienced substantial net outflows.  Since ETFs are often rules-based, this has helped shift the power struggle from fundamental analysis to quantitative approaches to investing in the industry.  Linda assembled three ETF industry veterans to discuss how the growth of ETFs has brought back new life to quant investing at the sold-out NYC QWAFAFEW event.  The distinguished guest speakers included:  

Joanne Hill, Proshares; Dave Nadig, CEO, ETF.com; Sebastian Mercado, Deutsche Bank

The panel addressed four broad issues: the state of the quant ETFs, the blessings, the limitations and finally, the business and career opportunities.  The last point was particular pertinent to the audience - what does it mean for the traditional asset management firms' future businesses and the career choices for the quant talents on the traditional buy and sell sides.

Purview Investment Website Was Released to the Public on April 12, 2017

After a couple of months' preparation for the content and design, Purview Investments website was released to the public on Thurs, April 12, 2017.  It was announced on LinkedIn.  Within 48 hours of its release, the post was viewed 4053 times and rising.  There seems to be as much fascination with the visuals as with its contents.  Purview Investments prides itself as an investment researcher and solution provider with a global reach and mindset.  The choices of these photos on the website reflect the personal journeys taken by the founder around the world.  The founder has debated about whether to reveal these places.  Well, she probably will tell you if you ask her. Happy Easter Weekend!
